Professor Dr. Dr. h. C. mult. Peter Ludwig (* 9. July 1925 in Koblenz; "† 22 July 1996 in Aachen) was a German Industrieller and art

The son of a lawyer and a daughter of the familyfamily family visited a human High School in Koblenz and made for 1943 the war Abitur. After military service and American war shank studied he starting from 1946 in Mainz history of art, archaeology, history and philosophy. 1951 he married Irene Monheim, with which not least the interest in the art connected him. It occurred then the company Leonard Monheim (play the trump card chocolate, Lindt, Mauxion) and removed the company, which was renamed later in "Ludwig chocolate", to German enterprises in this industry, leading into the 1970er/1980er years.

1957 it took up co-operation with museums to Cologne and Aachen. Cooperation in different museum associations, donations and establishment of museums and other institutions followed:

• Ludwig museum lock upper living in upper living (1983)
• House Ludwig for art in Saarlouis (1989)
• Ludwig forum for international art in Aachen (1991)

Its art collections are today distributed on nineteen museums in five countries.

Peter Ludwig succumbed to a cardiac infarct suddenly and unexpectedly on 22 July 1996. Its widow established, following from the "Ludwig donation for art and international communication GmbH", "Peter and Irene Ludwig donation".
