Peter Jankowitsch (* 10. July 1933 in Vienna) be a Austrian politician and diplomat.

After the study of the jurisprudence at the University of Vienna, where he attained a doctorate to 1958 to the Dr. iuris, Jankowitsch occurred the Austrian State Department. Under Bruno Kreisky he was ordered 1973 to the representative of Austria at the United Nations in New York. In this function he was to 1974 a first representative of Austria in the UN security council. From 1978-1983 and 1993-1998 he was a Permanent Representative of Austria with the OECD.

• Federal Minister for foreign affairs from 16 June 1986 up to 21. 1987 in the cabinet Vranitzky I
• Undersecretary of state for European questions in the Office of the Federal Chancellor from 17 December 1990 by 3 April 1993 in the cabinet Vranitzky III
