Peter Camper (* 11. May 1722 in suffering; "† 7 April 1789 into the Hague) was a Netherlands physician.

Camper studied medicine in suffering and became 1750 professor for medicine in Franeker, 1755 professor of the surgery in Amsterdam and 1763 professor of the surgery and the Botanik in Groningen.

1773 it laid down its office, denationalized in Franeker and went on journeys. After it had become 1787 member of the Council of State, it moved to the Hague, where it died 1789.

It wrote: "Demonstrationes anatomico pathologicae" (the Hague 1760-62, 2 parts, each with 4 large copper boards); "De claudicatione" (Groningen 1763); "Dissertatio de callo ossium" (Groningen 1765). A collection of its writings (3 volumes and an Atlas) appeared 1803 in Paris.

Peter Camper tried to attribute the beauty of the human face form to certain principles. From its physiognomischen (see Physiognomik) studies one witnesses after it designated face line.

Already early he tried also in drawing and painting with corroded themselves many small sheets and wrote over the connection of anatomy with the drawing arts. Main earnings/services acquired itself it by its large sized anatomical and osteologischen designs in wash technology, from which still many are present.

Camper dedicated itself also much engages to the theoretical and practical architecture; for its time unusually he still tried at the age of 50 years in the sculpture.
