The penny market GmbH is a daughter of the REWE German supermarket KGaA and is the Discounter Vertriebslinie for food of the Cologne REWE group in Germany. It was created 1973 and maintains in Germany more than 2300 markets.

Penny offers at present 1300 articles; the product range changed itself in the last years. Thus penny, like meanwhile many other food Discounter also, offers self-service meat in its markets on, in addition daily freshly baked rolls and bread, as well as newspapers and magazines.
