Paul Blobel (* 13 August 1894 in potsdam; "† 7 June 1951 in Landsberg at the Lech) was an architect, a and a leader of the special command 4a as well as the special command 1005 of the groups of employments in the Second World War.

Life

As an architect in Duesseldorf that already kept into the NSDAP occurred Blobel 1935 an order for party resident to 1931 for the equipment of an office for an SS-agency.

Blobel occurred the security agency (SD) of the protection relay (SS) and made fast career up to the of Duesseldorf. 1938 was it as a co-ordinator for the Sicherstellung of the materials from destroyed synagogs (thus as Nazi booty managers) in Solingen, Wuppertal and rem-separate actively.

With beginning of the Russia campaign Blobel was appointed as in June 1941 the leader of the special command (SK) 4a of the group of employments of C, which were assigned in the area of operations of the army group south the murder of world-descriptive opponents (communist functionaries, activists, Jews, gypsies, Saboteure and agents). Until January 1942 the SK 4a murdered approx. 60,000 humans, under it alone approx. 30,000 Jews to 29. and 30 September 1941 in the ravine of Babi Jar with Kiew (see Albert Hartl).

After separation as leaders of the SK 4a Blobel of the boss of the Gestapo, group leaders Heinrich Mueller to eliminate entrusted with the task, the traces of the crimes of the groups of employments, i.e. the mass graves. The appropriate arrangement was only verbally given. Any correspondence over this order was forbidden. It concerned here the so-called "Enterdungsaktion "or "action "and/or "command 1005 ". Jewish working units had to open the mass graves and to burn the corpses in pits and on heaps of failure. This could happen due to the fast advance of the Red Army only imperfectly.

After 1945

During the process of group of employments (case 9) the of follow-up processes against Otto Ohlendorf was condemned among other things Paul Blobel on 10 April 1948 beside 13 other high-ranking SS-leaders to death by the strand. On 7 June 1951 it was hung together with Otto Ohlendorf, Erich Naumann, Oswald Pohl and Werner brown one in the penal establishment Landsberg on the Lech and buried at the cemetery belonging to the institute.

50 years after the execution, before 7 June 2001 the institute line of Landsberg the Grabkreuze on the cemetery (on the Blobel are among other things bestattet) provided overhaul to let short, with a copper roof provide and for a uniform flower decoration.
