Paneb (*unter Ramses IITH 1278-1212 v. Chr. in Deir el Medina; "† vermutl. 1193 v. Chr. ebenda) were an old-Egyptian criminal, gang leader and a foreman of the 19. Dynasty in the worker city Deir el Medina. One could reconstruct its life relatively good by papyrus writings and Ostraka records of the court.

Paneb was the adoptive son of the foreman Neferhotep. Among its crimes ranked murder, grave robbery, perjury, robbery, compulsion, homicide, theft (of work tool), adultery (3x), promotions, suppression and rapes. With its criminal organization it led several gang wars like civil war in Deir el Medina. After it already the grave chambers of the RAM it daughters, made themselves it and its gang 1198 v. Chr. over grave of Sethos II., right after its burying, ago. It was discovered however by an official, who let himself be captivated however. Strange to say its crimes were noted in detail, were not condemned however. Therefore it is not to be excluded that one only charged many crimes to it. Paneb is to have threatened its stepfather and its rival Hay with murder. Neferhotep was actually murdered later, "by its enemy", as is reported. Paneb stressed the post of its stepfather as a foreman, but this was hereditary and could only to physical descendants be assigned, then he captivated the Wesir of Sethos of IITH late deplored himself the man, to who the post was entitled legally, and it came to a process, over which no recordings exist. Possibly the process did not take place also in Deir el Medina. From now on Paneb and its son Aapahate are not any longer mentioned. Probably it was executed, which lets the Ostraka assume "year 6 of the Siptah, executing a foreman".
