PAN was an art and a literature magazine, which appeared from 1895 to 1900 in Berlin and were given change by Otto Julius beer tree and Julius Meier Graefe.

PAN is considered as the most important organ of art nouveau in Germany. The magazine printed numerous, from well-known, in addition, from still unknown young artists sketched illustrations. In addition came full-page original diagrams, a simple, modern Typografie as well as Vignetten and other Zierelemente. To the most well-known artists of the booklet Franz of stucco, which contributed the picture for the title page of the first edition, belonged as well as to Vallotton, its woodcuts by PAN only admit became Thomas Theodor Heine.

Narrations and poems, those were literary to the symbolism, the naturalism in PAN, to which Impressionismus can be assigned. Besides stepped many works, which can be sorted under no epoch term. The magazine embodied the beginnings of the literary modern trend in their whole variety like also contradictoryness. To the most important authors belonged beside Otto Julius beer tree, max Dauthendey, Richard Dehmel and Arno wood.

1910 were again justified PAN as half monthly review under the line citizens of Berlin of the art dealer and publisher Paul Cassirer, but already adjusted after three years again.
