The own capital funds ratio is an economical characteristic number, which expresses the portion of own capital funds in % of the balance sheet total of an enterprise.

The average own capital funds ratio can fail both to countries and after industries or as a function of the business size quite differently. In Germany for decades an acceptance of the average own capital funds ratio is observed. Germany ranks just like Italy and Japan among the countries, in which the enterprises are equipped with a low own capital funds portion of the balance sheet total, often under 20 %. On the other hand US-American enterprises prove frequently ratios of over 50 %.

It is disputed whether and if which consequences can be derived in the context of the statement analysis from the own capital funds ratio.

Own capital funds ratio = \ frac {own capital funds * 100%} {total capital (balance sheet total)}
