Michelin (* 23. June 1859 in Clermont Ferrand; "† 25 August 1940 in Orcines with Puy de was a French Industrieller. It invented the pneumatic tire and is common with its brother Michelin of the founders of the enterprise Michelin.

Michelin studied first law, to it followed a study of the painting the Beaux kind in Paris. In Paris district the Montparnasse opened Michelin thereupon a studio. Together with its brother it inherited 1888 a rubber factory in Clermont Ferrand, which had created their grandfather. The brothers returned in this year to their hometown and continued the business. developed 1889 the pneumatic tires for bicycles, a exchangeable rubber tire with air hose.

The success of the invention was enormous, the small enterprise ascended within only three years to the market leader in the business with bicycle tires. To 1895 the Michelins developed also a pneumatic tire for cars, already 1896 drove approximately 300 Paris taxis with Michelin tires.

After the death of the brothers the enterprise, which at the time of death of 1940 25,000 coworkers busy, was continued first from younger family members and converted at the beginning of the 1950er years into getting thing.
