Otto Ohlendorf (* 4 February 1907 in Hoheneggelsen; "† 7 June 1951 in Landsberg at the Lech) was SS-group leader (lieutenant general), commanders of a group of employments and a bureau chief (SD-inland) in the Central Reich Security Office (RSHA).

Life

Born in Hoheneggelsen with Hildesheim, he studied on the right of and political sciences at the Universities of Leipzig and Goettingen. 1925, it were straight 18 years old, occurred it the NSDAP.

After scientific employments at Institut for world economy in Kiel and at the University of Berlin, he became 1936 restaurant economics at the security agency (SD). From 1939 to 1945 he was director/conductor of the office III (German life areas) of the RSHA. Here it was responsible for the production "of the messages from the realm ". In these reports was tried to represent the current tendency in the population.

he transferred 1941 additionally on instruction of Heinrich Himmler the line of the group of employments of D in the Soviet Union. The SS-Einsatzgruppen had the task to destroy the Jews living in the conquered areas. Ohlendorf held this function to June 1942. In this time it was responsible for the murder of approximately 90,000 humans.

In the process against the main war criminals in Nuremberg Ohlendorf was one of the principal witnesses of the accusation. It shocked the public by its completely emotionless spoken statement, in which it described the mass of its group of employments in the detail.

During the process of group of employments he was condemned 1948 to death and executed 1951 in Landsberg. Its seelsorgerische support before the execution took over the minister of the Christian community Werner George Haverbeck. The corpse of Otto Ohlendorf was transferred into its place of residence Hoheneggelsen, where it was also buried.
