Otto Krayer (* 22 October 1899 in (today belonging to Teningen), "† 18. March 1982 in Tucson, Arizona/the USA) was a German-American physician, Pharmakologe and a university professor.

Krayer buildup as a son of a restaurant operator/barkeeper. From 1919 to 1924 it studied Freiburg, Munich and Berlin medicine at the universities. 1925 trainee with Paul Trendelenburg afterwards at the University of Freiburg, 1926 graduation to the Dr. med. at the University of Freiburg, there scientific assistant.

1927 changed Krayer to Pharmakologi Institut of the University of Berlin, where he habilitierte himself 1929. From 1930 to 1932 he was in agency of Paul Trendelenburg an acting director of the institute in Berlin.

it received a call to 1933 as a successor from Philipp Ellinger on the chair for pharmacology at the University of Duesseldorf, which it rejected with the following letter to the Prussian Ministry for science, art and national education:

"Apart from unimportant material considerations the principal reason of my hesitating was that the fact that I feel the elimination of the Jewish scientists as injustice, whose necessity I cannot see, since it, as seems to me, is supported also outside of the sphere of the science lying reasons. This feeling of injustice is an ethical phenomenon. It is justified in the structure of my personality and no outward construction. Under these circumstances the assumption of such an agency would mean like the load mental in Duesseldorf for me, which it would make my activity to me more difficult as a teacher with that joy and devotion to take up, without which I can teach not quite. ("Â…) I want to do rather to attain a position which corresponds to my inclinations and abilities, I decide against my conviction; or that I give support to coming off an opinion by silence in incorrect place over me, those with the facts does not agree."

It received university prohibition, which included the use of public libraries in Germany.

After a stay as Rockefeller Fellow at the department OF Pharmacology of the University college London in the year 1934 led Krayer from 1934 to 1937 the department OF Pharmacology of the American University OF Beirut (Lebanon) and was following to 1939 Associate professor at the department OF Pharmacology of the Harvard University in Boston (Massachusetts)/the USA. it received a call to 1938 on the chair for pharmacology of the University of Peking (China). From 1939 to 1966 Krayer director/conductor department of the OF Pharmacology of the Harvard University was.

Institut for pharmacology and toxicology of the University of Freiburg designated Krayer in honours its institute building after it.
