Osram designates both a mark and a company name. The Osram GmbH with seat in Munich is a subsidiary company the Siemens AG, which manufactures OSRAM shining means (in particular lamps) under the label name.

At this time Siemens possessed 43 per cent, the AEG 36 per cent and internationally the General Electric company 21 per cent of the portions. 1976 sold the AEG their portions of Siemens. The life span of the shining means is doubled by electronic fluorescent lamp ballasts and the energy consumption around almost a third is reduced.
