Oskar Helmer (* 16 November 1887 in husband village (castle country); "Â 13 February 1963 in Vienna) was a Austrian politician writer and journalist. It ranked among the prominent political personalities of the Austrian post-war period.
The writer Oskar Helmer began to write in the year 1910 for the media Viennese people grandstand and equality. In the years 1920 and 1921 Helmer is engaged as a member of the administrative commission, in order to reach an integration of the castle country. From 1921 to 1934 as well as 1945 he is member of the federal state government of Lower Austria.
1934 were arrested Helmer. From 1935 on it was active up to the end of the Second World War for an insurance company.
Together with Leopold Figl renewed Helmer after end of war in the year 1945 the down-Austrian Landesverwaltung. In the same year he became as a member an under-secretary of State in the government under Federal Chancellor Karl racer. The trailer of a large coalition from and was from 1945 to 1959 Ministers of the Interior. In this office it had to succeed politically again and again against crew powers. During its time as Ministers of the Interior Helmer was also a delegate to the Austrian national council.

Helmer was buried in its residence of many years upper walter village in an honour grave.
