Onyx Music Television was a TV-Musikprogramm.
Contrary to MTV and VIVA it had the call, less Mainstream separates alternative music such as Punk, Gothic, to send electronic music or Trip Hop.
On 6 January 1996 the transmitter from Dortmund was started. On 15 September 2004 the French parent company Groupe replaced STARTING FROM the transmitter by the documentation channel terranova.
On 9 September 2000 ONYX made a restart and would send since then under the name onyx.tv and began beside the music program also films into the program to merge. Onyx.tv was since then also younger put on and took predominantly current Songs in the program.
Therefore the program consisted of the mash IC generation (daily 17:00 -20:00 clock), the Movie generation around 20:15 clock, in that daily a film of the cinema world was shown and the club generation (daily 22:00 - 0:00). The moreover one the program consisted also of the Onyx Jukebox, Teleshopping, Sexy tie-clips and a cinema magazine. Furthermore also a music program in the night and one ran in the morning. On weekend instead of the club generation a further film was sent.
After more than one year this concept went down however and the music tie-clips and transmissions became more varied. The Movie generation was taken to an extended mash IC generation from the program and yielded for the time being, until also it disappeared together with the club generation and a new program schema had to yield.
To many inquiries of the spectators transmissions came such as Rock@Onyx, BestOf@Onyx and Schattenreich@Onyx on onyx.tv. The music program was removed continuously, moderators was added and the Teleshopping distances was shortened and into in the morning program integrated. When moderators were for onyx.tv among other things Axel Terporten (before moderator with VIVA), Damae (front woman of the Dance group of Fragma), Daniel Aminati (former member of the Boyband "Bed & BREAK nearly"), DJ Terence (Regieasstistent and DJ), Judith Pinnow (former host of some child transmissions of the pool of broadcasting corporations, among other things tiger ducks club, and married with Stefan Pinnow, with which it led in former times by the numerous child transmissions), Medusa (in the Gothicszene well-known), Sinta Weisz (actress and Model, some weeks long in the RTL Soap "among us", Stefanie Mensing (actress and host, before among other things for the "Loveparade had guest appearances" - Transmission with RTL II actively been) and Trooper there Don (musician) actively.
Even if onyx.tv ever more popular and more well-known became, had onyx.tv contrary to MTV and Viva to be receiptable the problem neither similar to nor over Astra. And in such a way a satisfying range was never reached. Thus there were 1997 rumors already for the year over an insolvency of the transmitter, which always proved as wrong.
Onyx.tv should be adjusted on 9 September 2004, thus four years after the program reform. Since however the kind of sending of the follow-up transmitter terranova one shifted, would still send onyx.tv by 15 September 2004 into the morning hours inside. The last played video was "Goodbye Forever" from the Spice Girls.
Further components of onyx.tv were the well sorted Internet appearance and the Teletext of the transmitter. Both medium services were produced and marketed by the Leipziger agency PMS Interactive.
