In Germany there are seven offices for bombardment, which are responsible for the examination of hunt, sport and defensive weapons as well as their ammunition.

The offices are in Hanover, Kiel, Cologne, Mellrichstadt, Munich, Suhl and Ulm. They differ in your tasks. While in Hanover only weapon examinations are accomplished, also ammunition examinations take place in all other offices. In addition in Mellrichstadt, Munich and Ulm material testing (e.g. bullet-proof glass, the protection west, special protection vehicles) are accomplished.

The most well-known task of the offices for bombardment is the firing test. Beyond that weapons are marked also after "§24 weapon law and examined for their insurance of operation and accuracy to size.

Office for bombardment Ulm the largest office for bombardment is in Ulm. It was created 1952 and is attached the district administration as paper 27 (bombardment nature, safety engineering). Among other things four bombardment chambers and different material test equipments are equipped with 100m-Schiessbahnen, open area for blowing up examinations. In addition one has approximately 200 test runs for accordingly many ammunition sorts there.

In Ulm approx. 70% of the German firing tests are accomplished. Like that the Federal Standards Laboratory (PTB) is responsible for the approved design of hand-held weapons and putting in runs. The Federal Institution for material research and - examination (BAM) works on the permission of pyrotechnic ammunition.
