Obsidian Cliff is a cliff in the Yellowstone national park, which consists of Obsidian, a volcanic rock glass. On 19 June 1996 it was taken up to the list that national Historic Landmarks and classified thus by the US ministry of the Interior as place of special historical importance. It is for instance on half way between Mammoth Hot jumps and to Norris Junction. The height amounts to 2250 m NN. Thus it rises up 45-60 meters over the Obsidian Creek.

The Bannock and other Indian peoples already used before at least 11,000 years Obsidian from the cliff for heads of the arrow.

As one the first white one mentioned the Trapper Jim Bridger "the mountain ". Its listeners dismissed this description as lie history.
