The Nichtopioid analgesics (syn.: nichtopioide analgesics) are pain-satisfying medicaments (analgesics), which unfold their effect by suppression of pain-releasing biochemical processes. The naming defines the group of substances to the Opioiden, which work by reciprocal effect with the Opioidrezeptoren.

The nichtopioiden analgesics work over an inhibition of the enzyme Cyclooxygenase (COX) and thus over a pro day land in synthesis inhibition analgetisch, antipyretisch and anti-inflammatorily. In the development are recently substances, which work as Lipoxygenase restrictors.

The nichtopioiden analgesics were called also peripheral analgesics; contrary to the Opioiden, which work in the central nervous system. For some these substances are however central effect characteristics secured, so that this designation in the modern bibliography became to leave.

Nichtopioide analgesics are freely for sale to the majority in Germany.

These substances intervene in different measure in elementary bodily functions. Thus they affect

• Intestine tonus and

The Prostaglandine is in connection with the Nichtopioid analgesics of special interest. They affect different physiological functions apart from inflammation procedures still. Two aspects are to be considered:

1. There are several Prostaglandine. They unfold different effects at different effect places
2. There are at least two kinds of the Cyclooxygenase (rather three), for different synthesis ways of the Prostaglandine. Thus the Cyklooxygenase 2 (COX-2) plays a role with the synthesis of the the COX-1 is crucial for the synthesis of the Prostaglandine, those for the Schleimhautschutz, which blood clotting (blood panel aggregation) and the regularization of the electrolyte and water regime.

Since nichtopioide analgesics restrain the enzyme Cyklooxygenase, they are essentially Prostaglandinsynthesehemmer.
