The USA furnished a multiplicity of national park. Further protected areas are national monuments (national Monuments), historical parks, memorial places, recreation areas, rivers and coast regions. All national park and a part of the other protected areas by national the park service are administered.

National parks

In the year 2005 there are 58 official of national park, which got the protection status awarded by congress of US "national park". In national park large variety is usually placed at cultural, geological or biological resources under protection. Hunt and mining industry measures are not permitted normally.

National Monuments

The national monuments have a smaller protection status than national park and are usually smaller protected areas.

National Historical park, Memorials, and Battlefields

In this group of protected areas are listed historical places, monuments and battlegrounds. Often is the individual building or smaller regions, which has a historical meaning.

National Recreation AREAs, Seashores and Trails

In this list from protected areas are recreation areas and special seas, rivers, coast regions and roads, as well as moving ways contain.

There are state forest areas (national Forest) in the USA, which are administered by US the Forest service.

State park

Additionally to the listed areas administered by the Federal Government, the individual Federal States operate so-called State park.

Other

Beside that national park service and that US Forest service are also the office OF country management, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife service, the administrations of the Indian reservations and other state and local institutions responsible for the administration of individual parks. The most well-known park of these institutions is the Monument Valley.
