The NVIDIA corporation (lat. iNVIDIA, ae, f. - Envy, disfavor; derived from n vidia, whereby n stands for unlimited, infinitely) actually probably is one of the largest developers of diagram processors and chip corroding for personal computers and the Xbox. The head office lies in Santa Clara, California. The conversion amounted to 2004 1.82 billion US Dollar (2003: ), The number of the persons employed was appropriate for 1,91 billion 2004 world-wide with approx. 1.700.
The enterprise was created in January 1993 by Jen Hsun Huang, Curtis Priem and Chris Malachowsky. With the NV1 NVIDIA brought out in May 1995 one the first 3D-Beschleuniger-Prozessoren (GPU). The chip used however not the usual Polygonverfahren of today's diagram maps, in order to represent 3D-Objekte, but set on NURBS so mentioned. Since an advancement of the processor (NV2) should be integrated also in a Sega console, to which it however never came, the map apart from a sound subsystem (sound blow he compatible), equipped with it, possessed still two connections for a Sega Gamecontroller. The list of the supported plays was finally however quite short (all came from Sega, e.g. Virtua Fighter), and those quite "exotic" NURBS technology did not become generally accepted not. Under the failure of the NV1 the mark NVIDIA to 1997/98 was relatively unknown, when the series of the Riva PC Grafikchips was brought out, which justified the success of the enterprise. In January 1999 NVIDIA was taken up to the NASDAQ (NVDA) and delivered in the same year already the zehnmillionsten diagram chip. In the subsequent year the enterprise bought up net assets of 3dfx, the up to then largest competitor. NVIDIA was selected as supplier for the diagram equipment of Microsoft Xbox. In February 2002 over 100 million diagram chips had been already delivered. Further NVIDIA with Sony cooperates, in order to develop a diagram chip for the PlayStation 3 and other devices. On 21 February 2006 for two months the announced assumption of the Main board chip manufacturer ULi for the price of approximately US$ 52 million was final.
Besides NVIDIA has own chip-corrodes for AMDs Athlon XP, 64 and FX developed and drives this under the mark nForce out at Main board manufacturers. At the beginning of of 2005 followed nForce 4 Intel the edition chip set for Intelprozessoren.
NVIDIAs success is based particularly on the series of the GeForce Grafikchips, which were for the first time introduced 1999.
NVIDIA produced also Main-board-chip-corrodes, which is manufactured particularly for AMD processors. They carry all for the names nForce, and are meanwhile in the 4. Generation available. The current versions are:

nForce 4 is for the newest AMD processors and since the 4. Generation also for the newest Intel processors available, identifiable by the name additive "Intel edition". On 20 September 2005 also two versions nForce 4 with integrated diagram solution were presented, nForce 4,410 and nForce 4,430, whereby first with the GeForce 6100-Chip and the latter is combined alternatively with diagram processor already mentioned or the GeForce 6150, to Intel variants of these do not chip-corrode against it so far yet appeared.
