The number for the marking of the danger (also danger number or Kemler number) is the number, which is indicated in the upper half of a danger board at vehicles. It informs about the dangers outgoing from the transported material (danger property) and is in the European convention over the international transport of dangerous goods on the road (abbreviation: Addr) defines. The number consists the doubling of a number of at least two to maximally three numbers, possibly with placed in front X. means an increase of the danger. Combinations of different numbers are possible. If no acute danger exists under standard conditions, then a zero are attached. Example: Diesel fuel/fuel oil, danger number "30", inflammable, but under standard conditions safely.
Meaning of the numbers:
- 1 - Explosives
- 2 - Danger of escaping gas
- 3 - of liquid or gaseous materials
- 4 - of solid materials
- 5 - Oxidizing one (fire-promoting) effect
- 6 - Danger by Giftigkeit or infection
- 7 - Danger by radioactivity
- 8 - Danger by etching action
- 9 - Danger of a spontaneous violent reaction
- X - Reacted to dangerous way with water
- 0 without special danger, weakening of the danger proven in the first number
The following combinations have a special meaning (selection):
- 22: chilled liquefied gas, suffocating
- 223: chilled liquefied gas,
- 225: chilled liquefied gas, oxidizing
- 23: gas
- 323: liquid substance, which reacts with water and forms gases
- X323: liquid substance, which reacts with water dangerously and forms gases
- 333: pyrophorer liquid substance
- 362: liquid substance, malicious, which reacts with water and forms gases
- 382: liquid substance, corrosive, which reacts with water and forms gases
- 423: solid material, which reacts with water and forms gases
- X423: solid material, which reacts with water dangerously and forms gases
- 44: solid material, which is at increased temperature in melted condition
- 446: solid material, malicious, which is at increased temperature in melted condition
- 462: solid material, malicious, which reacts with water and forms gases
- 482: solid material, corrosive, which reacts with water and forms gases
- 539: organic peroxide
- 606: infection-dangerous material
- 623: poisonous liquid substance, which reacts with water and forms gases
- 642: poisonous solid material, which reacts with water and forms gases
- 823: corrosive liquid substance, which reacts with water and forms gases
- 842: corrosive solid material, which reacts with water and forms gases
- 90: environmentally hazardous material
The arrangement of the individual number describes the main danger outgoing from this material in descending order.
