The dockyard of North Sea works GmbH (NSWE) is one tradition in Emden (East Frisia), which builds naval and special ships. It is a subsidiary company of the ThyssenKrupp company belonged there and to the company ThyssenKrupp navy of system (TKMS). The enterprise ranks among the larger German navy yards. History

The enterprise became at the 11. March 1903 of rheinisch entrepreneurs based and ranks among the oldest still existing shipyards of Germany. Submarines

In the First World War threw completely with orders of the emperor navy charged to capacity, for which she built mine circular scrapers and Vorpostenboote. In the Second World War built threw altogether 30 submarines for the war navy: 22 of the type VIIc and 8 of the type VIIc/41. Ten further ships were not finished.

After the Second World War threw among other things the export drafts type 207 (Kobben class) and type 210 (Ula class) for Norway as well as the TR built the 1700 for Argentina and partly the Dolphin class for Israel. For the Federal Navy the North Sea works were involved in the types 206 and 212.

The newest submarine generation, which is built with NSWE, is the highly developed submarine class 212a in the group with the Kieler threw HDW.

Further naval ships

For the German navy (in former times Federal Navy) threw a set of frigates, mostly in co-operation with HDW, built Blohm & Voss as well as that a throwing in Lemwerder. With the North Sea works among other things the frigates Emden, Bavaria and Hessen at present in the service ran from the pile.

Trading vessels
