The net mark Discount GmbH & CO. oHG a Lebensmitteldiscounter of the EDEKA with head office is in the Bavarian Haidhof.

The enterprise was created 1928 in Regensburg as food wholesale business. 1971 were opened the first retail trade branch under the name SuDi (Superdiscount) in Beilngries. In the year 1984 the net Discountkonzept is developed and opened in Regensburg the first net branch. 1994 the assumption of 126 "GREAT" - markets takes place. 2004 became the 1000. Net branch in Burglengenfeld opens. In April 2005 by ITM at EDEKA one sold net. The genossenschaftlich organized EDEKA group belongs to the prominent food retailers in Europe.

Particularly strongly net mark Discount is in South Germany, Thuringia, Saxonia and Lower Saxony represented. In addition, markets in Saxonia-Anhalt, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hessen are operated.

The company is however not identically to the Danish Lebensmitteldiscounter of the same name NET, whose German branches are to be found main in Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Saxonia-Anhalt; since this admits not generally is, sometimes mark Discount is called also net south net.
