Navy the Stewardship Council (MSC) is an independent and nonprofit organization, which assigns an environmental seal for fish from lasting fishery. A goal is it to reduce the world-wide overfishing of the seas.

MSC was created 1997 of Unilever (among other things Iglo) and the environmental and nature protection organization WWF (World Wildlife find). MSC is financed 1999 independently of Unilever and WWF and today by donations and sponsor funds.

Eleven fisheries of MSC were certified end of 2004.

The environment organization Greenpeace, which supported the MSC initiative first, criticizes the seal in the meantime. It is criticized that the certification criteria are e.g. too weak and the Logo was assigned also for fish from over-fished areas, if a recovery program exists.
