The nature park Westhavelland is appropriate for about 70 km in the Land of the Federal Republic Brandenburg, to the west of Berlin, at the national border to the Land of the Federal Republic Saxonia-Anhalt. At 1.315 km surface is it the largest protected area in Brandenburg and covers the largest coherent humid area of the European inland. The nature park lies to a large extent in the district Havelland and partly in the districts potsdam central Marks and Ostprignitz Ruppin, the city Brandenburg to the Havel lies at the southern edge, in the center of the nature park the district town Rathenow.
