The nature park upper Danube is appropriate for 1980 in the south of Baden-Wuerttemberg and covers large parts of the districts Tuttlingen and sigma rings was based. It is 860 km largely and from the registered association of the same name is administered, which has its seat in Beuron. The hay mountain, the southwest high surface of the Swabian Alb, which are broken through from the Danube, forms the surface-moderately largest part of the nature park.

Geografie

The two source brooks of the Danube are the Brigach and Breg at the eastern edge of the black forest. They unite with the source of Danube with Donaueschingen to the actual Danube.

Between Immendingen and Ertingen the Danube crosses the nature park upper Danube, in which it dug itself a deep bed by the law rock of the Swabian Alb. In this break-through valley of the still narrow river powerful lime rock were opened: One of it is the "Knopfmacherfelsen" with Beuron, which was put on as lookout point. Beuron lies in the middle in the delightful landscape of the nature park. The locality came out from the much-visited ore abbey Beuron. The Danube flows in its upper run by the cities Tuttlingen, sigma rings, Scheer and quantities.

Geologically and routistic interesting also the Danube infiltration is in Immendingen and south of Fridingen.

On rock over the Danube numerous castles and locks stand. The most well-known: Lock Bronnen, castle wild stone, lock who-dare, ruin Dietfurt, broken lock good stone (good stone) good stone, Hohenzollernschloss sigma rings, lock Bartelstein and the lock Scheer.

Parallel to the Danube runs also the Danube cycle track, which leads Vienna from Donaueschingen until. The Danube valley course from Donaueschingen to Ulm opens the nature park with the course. Apart from regular courses the so-called nature park express between Tuttlingen and sigma rings operates in the summer months particularly for the visitors of the nature park.

Tributaries of the Danube to Ulm are of the south coming the Ablach, the Ostrach tear and the red and of the north come the rivers Schmeie (or Schmiecha), the Lauchert and the large loud, which flow briefly before Ehingen. Into Ulm flows the Iller into the Danube, which brings much cold water from the to alps with itself.
