The nature park Steinhuder sea, with Northwest Germany largest lake as principal item, extends over an area of 310 km in the districts Nienburg and foam castle and the region Hanover. Carrier 1974 created nature parks is the region Hanover.

The height of the water level, clearing and Entkrautung of the lake of mud, the land development of the bank range and the steering of the tourist stream save just as plentifully conflict potential as the restrictions of the Surf, sail and moving possibilities in favor of the requirement of a bird protected area of international rank. For the exemplary solution of these interest conflicts between nature protection and tourism the nature park was distinguished already several times.

In Winzlar for the support and study of the nature park and for the naturkundlichen instruction and support of the population like the tourists an ecological protection station was furnished.
