The nature park south Black Forest is with a size of 3.300 km the second largest nature park in Germany.

Geography

It is appropriate for mash gau and the districts in the southwest of the Land of the Federal Republic Baden-Wuerttemberg in the city Freiburg in the mash gau high Black Forest, Emmendingen, and Landkreis forest hat, as well as in the Black Forest Baar circle

Situation

The nature park south Black Forest hands middle Black Forest in the north into parts with Elzach and tri mountain (circle Black Forest Baar) and in the west to to the Rhine in the districts mash gau high Black Forest, Freiburg in mash gau and including the Vorbergzonen in the Rhine level. In the south it covers the south Black Forest to to the Rhine in the districts and forest hat and in the east the Alb Wutach area to Donaueschingen and Villingen Schwenningen in the Black Forest Baar circle.

History

The nature park south Black Forest decreases/goes back in the former "model assisted area south Black Forest", whose promotion ran out 1997. Since planning was running to develop the model further to a nature park the country Baden-Wuerttemberg extended its support up to the establishment "nature park south Black Forest registered association" on 1 February 1999 in Titisee Neustadt, which is carrier of the nature park. Club members are the districts lying in the nature park as well as 96 cities and municipalities, various associations, enterprises and private people.

The association has its seat in the municipality field mountain on the highest mountain of the black forest, that 1493 m high field mountain.

Objects of interest

• Cattle didactic exhibition in Gersbach (south Black Forest) to the animal husbandry and production of food.
• The formerly largest white fir of Western Europe was located likewise in a forest Gersbach. At the left it is today an opinion object for the natural dismantling of wood.
• The highest of Germany in tri mountain in the Black Forest.
