The nature park Nuthe Nieplitz lain southwest from Berlin was opened in August 1999. With an expansion of 623 km2 the park takes that with altogether eleven nature parks in Brandenburg in the surface a central place. The landscape is coined/shaped by the damp valley of the rivers Nuthe and Nieplitz, by forest and field with small villages.

Situation and structural data

The park lies between Teltow (landscape) and Zauche in the Baruther and groove hiring current valley southwest from Berlin and south of potsdam. Larger places in the park are Saarmund, Beelitz and Treuenbrietzen. Practically on the border of the park monastery Zinna, Luckenwalde and Trebbin lie, the course of the border makes an elbow in each case around these cities and leaves it blank. Emergence and characterisation

The central area of the nature park, the Nuthe Nieplitz valley, was formed before approx. 20,000 years at the end of the Weichsel ice age as Zwischenurstromtal of the abtauenden glaciers. The Wassermassen and the moving glaciers left the high plateaus Zauche at the western and Teltow at the eastern edge of the valley between the Fl¤ming and/or the pre-aged Baruther Urstromtal and the citizen of Berlin Urstromtal as flatwavy deposits from rubble, Mergel and sand, which are divided by the valley. Remainders of form in the meltwater valley smaller collections like the highest mountain in the park, for the 103 meters high front mountain or the Glauer of mountains with a height of approximately 90 meters, salient in the flat landscape, which extend as smaller "mountain course" over four kilometers of length between the bright lake and the Nuthe with Kleinbeuthen. More deeply, typically sand forms the surface of the Kiefernbestandenen of mountains.

Name givers of the are the rivers Nuthe and Nieplitz, which flatten its characteristic landscape with damp meadows, swampy valleys, lakes and irrigation canals coin/shape; several smaller like the Siethener and the Saarmunder Elsbruch offer the Schwarzerle their preferential damp habitat. Fields, strewing fruit meadows, smaller mountains and hill, herds of sheep, villages and nature-left ash avenues form together with a small-scale change of the biotopes a varied and quiet culture landscape.
