The nature park Hochtaunus is with a surface of 120.165 hectares the second largest nature park in Hessen.

In the north the Lahn valley forms the border of the nature park with because castle, in the east limits A 5, in the south the Main Taunusvorland between Frankfurt/Main and Wiesbaden and in the west A 3 the nature park Hochtaunus.

Actual Hochtaunus one calls the Taunushauptkamm, a wooded mountain back of approx. 40 km length and 10 km depth with the largest collection the large field mountain. In the Hochtaunus coniferous forest prevails forwards, while one finds in the Hintertaunus hardwood forest. Of the Taunus with its wavy to gebirgigen relief the expanded strewing fruit meadows are characteristic.

The nature park is a popular local recreation area for inhabitants of the densely populated areas Rhine Main and Lahn Dill.

Organization

Legally the nature park Hochtaunus is organized as a Zweckverband. Members of the association are the Hochtaunuskreis, the Lahn Dill circle, the district pouring, the district Limburg because castle, the Main rope US circle, the Wetteraukreis and the city Frankfurt/Main.
