The nature park Bergi country is a nature park in North Rhine-Westphalia in the Bergi country with a size of 2.000 km

Geography

The nature park is surrounded by the of the sour country in the east, the Westerwald in the south, the Cologne Siegburger bay in the west and the bergischen cities Wuppertal, rem-separates and Solingen in the north.

As northern part of the Rheini slate mountains the area of the Naturparkes is a typical central mountain landscape. It rises from the west eastward from approximately 60 m (over NN) to heights over 500 m.

Carrier

The recreation area nature park Bergi country is to represent the landscape in the Bergi country as unit. For this reason the Zweckverband nature park Bergi country was created. This federation regards humans as part of the landscape and culture and is not so only limited to environmental protection alone. There the Bergi country in the catchment area of the Rhine rail (Cologne/Duesseldorf) is appropriate and potentially 11 million humans of this as recreation area uses, is it for a goal of ensuring a compatible tourism.

Four institutions and groups united for this reason to a Zweckverband:

• Landscape federation Rhine country
• Nature protection federations
• Moving and leisure associations
• Tourism federations (among other things the tourism federation Oberbergi country in Gummersbach)
