The nature park Bavarian forest covers an area north the Danube up to the border comb after Tschechien. Sponsor organization is the "nature park Bavarian forest registered association" with seat in Zwiesel. It exists since 1967 and is thereby one of the oldest nature parks in Bavaria. Not to confound it is with the national park Bavarian forest!

Landscape

The nature park is appropriate between the Danube and the high situations along the Bavarian border, in the middle part Bavarian covered it only the old district rain forest first, in the subsequent years after the regional reorganization of 1972 the entire district rain with the old district Viechtach. In the years 1979/1980 those were added north the Danube of convenient district parts of Deggendorf and Straubing elbow. 1999 joined also the district Freyung Grafenau the nature park.
