The nature park Barnim became to 9. May 1999 based. The landscape lies in the north of Berlin between the cities Oranienburg, Eberswalde and Bernau and includes in the south of parts of the citizens of Berlin of districts Reinickendorf and Pankow also.

It is 748 km largely, of it is 55% forest, 32% agriculturally is used and 3% is waters; the remainder is settlement and traffic surface.

The nature park Barnim is the only landspreading large protected area of Lands Berlin and Brandenburg.

The landscape is coined/shaped by the Barnimplatte originating from the ice age. It is limited by the two Eberswalde and Berlin in the north and the south.
