National economy the whole of all is called in a marketing area (usually a state or a state group) of connected and mutually dependent participants (households, enterprises and the state). Often also the marketing area is called national economy.

The simplest economical model is the two-sector model.

The material national economy serves the political economy as model for the construction of simplified representations in the form of usually mathematical models. The economical models contain two depending upon an explanation goal or more participants. As a further participant for example the state is applicable.

One differentiates open from closed national economies, according to whether they stand with other national economies in connection.
