The Mazda engine corporation is a Japanese car manufacturer with seat in Hiroshima. Mazda is the name of the old-Persian divinity of the light. The name of the firm founder Jujiro Matsuda is expressed in the Japanese like "Mazda". Beside two manufacturing plants in Japan (Hiroshima and Hofu) and Mazdamodelle at locations in all parts of the world are manufactured. Ford engine company, with which Mazda maintains a strategic partnership since 1979, and is since then the nut/mother company of the Mazda engine corporation acquires 1996 the control portion of 33,4% of the shares of Mazda.

History

The today's Mazda engine corporation became 1920 of Jujiro Matsuda as Toyo Cork Kogyo Ltd. based and dedicated itself to the refinement of cork. 1928 was manufactured mechanical engineering parts, produced for the first time from 1930 on also motorcycles.

Center of the 1930er years was advanced the development by motorized tricycles and LKWs. In addition there was a firm section rock drills.

During the Second World War the enterprise was merged into the Japanese armament.

1950 took up Mazda the production of small trucks with three or four wheels again. 1960 appear the first passenger car on the market: a small named Mazda R360.Im year 1961 was closed a license agreement with the German enterprise NSU for use and advancement by wankel engines. Starting from 1967 the Mazda 110 S Cosmo with two-disk wankel engine was produced.

1972 created Mazda the Mazda of engine Germany GmbH as a German folder and began with the structure of the German Mazda center in Hilden. One year later began the selling of Mazda models in Germany.

1979 follow the removal from Hilden to Leverkusen hit village, where also today (conditions October 2005) still the Germany center is to be found.

1984 were renamed the company in Mazda engine corporation.

In the year 1989 it created Mazda with its Roadster MX-5 to let the enthusiasm for open sports cars in Europe and North America revive again.

In the year 1991 Mazda also the break-through in the engine haven succeeded. As a first and only Japanese car manufacturer it succeeded to carry Mazda off with the Mazda 787B the victory in Le Mans with 2 rounds lead over Jaguar.
