Maserati is created an Italian sports car company, of the brothers of the same name in the year 1914 in Bologna.Insbesondere into the 1950er years was the racing cars in the indication of the Dreizacks successfully, among other things Formel-1-Weltmeisterschaft 1957 by Juan Manuel Fangio to tax 250 F.
The Markenlogo in form of a Dreizacks comes of from the famous Neptunbrunnen from Bologna. Today Maserati belongs to Fiats and/or Alfa Romeo.

- 1968 - Maserati is bought by the ingenious Giulio Alfieri is chief designer and sketches models like the Khamsin, the Quattroporte III, the Bora and the Merak. Most models are designated after hoists. The Indy appears 1969 as 2+2 Coupe and continues the line of the Ghibli with extended available space. Over 1000 copies mt 4,2l and 4,9l V8 are built. To 1975 considerable prototypes for a new model generation, among other things the "Shimun" meant from Giugiaro, develop as successors of the Indy. Citroen used used for the SM the V6 engine of the Merak and builds over 12,000 copies.
- 1975 - Alejandro De Tomaso buys Maserati of GEPI
- 1981 - the Biturbo is introduced, a sporty which secures Maserati despite initial problems in quality surviving. He is built in many variants until 1999 and constantly improved. Some models: Biturbo, Biturbo SI, 222, 228, 430, 422, 2,24 v, 4,24 v, Biturbo Spyder, Karif, Racing. Engines with 2,0 litres are offered, later for the export of 2.5 litres and then 2.8 litres of aggregates. First with 3 valve technology, later then with 4 valves. Even a V8 is designed, the Shamal, with 326 HP and 3.2 litres engine.
- 1991 - Homologationsmodell "Barchetta", whose road version "Barchetta Stradale" was never built in series. Some few certified Barchetta exist nevertheless - all together converted running versions. A Barchetta for example is built for Replica equipped with that 2.8 litres of V6, while the originals with an engine running drove 2.0 litres, it in the meantime, for example of Mr. Neri in Concodia/Modena.

- 1993 - Fiat acquires the stock majority of Maserati, Sig. Alzati becomes CEO. Under its line the Ghibli II and the Quattroporte IV develop, on basis of the Biturbo Motorenreihe.
- 1997 - Assumption by Ferrari on 7 July 1997
- 2003 - Alejandro De Tomaso deceases
- 2004 - Homologationsstrassenmodell Maserati MC12 on basis Ferrari of the Enzo for the FIA GT championship. 25 road versions will assign to intimate friends of the mark. Because of a short term change of the regulation the MC12 had to start except competition.
- 2005 - Maserati is not again directly Fiat subordinated around the stock exchange course of Ferrari to load (Maserati writes still red numbers); a close co-operation between Maserati and Alfa Romeo appears
