Musima is a trademark of music instruments from the German Democratic Republic. The label name is an abbreviation of the manufacturer enterprise, former VEB music instrument making collective combine Mark new churches (1953-1990) in the Vogtland; after the turn the VEB Musima was resumed from the Musima GmbH to the year 2004.
Still to center of the 1990er years produced the Musima GmbH classical and acoustic guitars (at first also still E-guitars and E-basses), violins, cellos, retort basses, banjos, Zithern and other caper and pulling instruments.
Musima always stood as mark for favorable instruments (from machine production) to relatively high-quality quality. This was however well-known among rather less, since the A-commodity was usually produced only for the foreign country and in the business of the GDR often only B or C-commodity was offered. These instruments could be referred among other things at source and other mail-order houses. One could refer it however also over the music specialized trade.
In the 90's the building of musi potashes in competition became too expensive the world market. At GDR times approx. 1500 coworkers in the VEB worked; after rationalizations the personnel shrank on approximately 30 coworkers. The industrielle, machine manufacturing was not lucrative however any longer, and the Musima had to finally announce bankruptcy. Many smaller enterprises however continue the tradition of the building of music instruments in Mark new churches.
In December 2005 it meant on the Website of the music instrument museum Mark new churches: "The mark today still driven out with eagle Heinrich in Mark new churches. However they sell Spanish guitars under this name, want production to Mark new churches again to possibly take up."
