musicbox was the first, German music transmitter, before Viva was created. 1984 were started, first in the cable pilot project and afterwards as country wide TV-channel. 1988 were converted the station into Tele 5.

musicbox a 24-Stunden-Programm with video tie-clips and music transmissions would send. Location of the transmitter was the Schellingstrasse 44 in Munich. The program was spread by cables and satellite (INTELSAT), in Munich occasionally even over antenna. The transmissions had a high editorial information portion, it gave for nearly each popular music direction their own transmission. While during the day moderated music magazines dominated, videos at night often ran nonstop or repetitions of the transmissions from the day.

1988 were converted due to changes in the partner structure of the music transmitters in a TV-Vollprogramm. The Italian medium Mogul Silvio Berlusconi had bought itself into the Produktionsgesellschaft. The name changed from musicbox in Tele 5. In addition, with Tele 5 the music in the start time played still another large role. Some transmissions and moderators of musicbox were transferred to the Tele 5-Programm.

The former music editorship had made itself after the transformation in Tele 5 independent. The production company MME was created, which took over complete music video archives. MME produces to today different music and maintenance transmissions for nearly all well-known, German TV-transmitters. In the 90's the created music transmitter VH-1 Germany was likewise supplied with former musicbox videos.

Star with musicbox

Almost all considerable German musicians of the 80's were at least once to guest in musicbox Studios. There even music videos were turned. Example: The tie-clip "I dear you no more" of Udo lime tree mountain does not play directly in the transmitter building. One sees getting in the video the musicbox Logos and even the transmission direction has a special role.

There was second transmitter, which likewise called itself Music box in the 80's still another. It concerned also a music transmitter, however out of London. The two programs had no relations except the same name however to each other. Both Music box transmitters were in the middle of the 80's for feed into the cable systems of the German Federal Republic intended. From the English transmitter Music box became later the super Channel. One considers the way of writing: musicbox (Munich) and Music box (London). Nowadays exists again a Music box TV-chain, which arranges interactive music transmitters for countries such as Italy and Russia (both received over the Hotbird satellites too).
