The mold casting process is a prototype procedure.

The liquid metal is poured here from above into a continuous form, the so-called mold, and fills out these alone due to the force of gravity. For the quality of the casting the optimal form of the molds is important. It must be paid attention to the fact that the liquid metal can flow sufficiently fast everywhere, before the solidification begins. Also all ranges of the cast part must as evenly as possible cooling, so that the education is prevented by piping. Around cavities and/or complex outlines to illustrate so-called cores are necessary, which are fixed before casting in the metal at the appropriate place in the mold. After the cooling the cast part is released from form and the possibly used cores (usually from casting sand) e.g. by a shaking device for the cast part is removed.
