A Metaverzeichnisdienst (English Metadirectory) is a listing service, which summarizes the data of other listing services. This makes it possible to synchronize several listing services. Different beginnings are differentiated.

Metaverzeichnisse are used in the framework identity management, in order to synchronize user profiles. Well-known Metaverzeichnisdienste is DirXML of Novell, MIIS von Microsoft.
