Megaphone is a road newspaper, which unite in Graz and other cities in the Steiermark by humans in social emergency directly on the road are sold. The megaphone appears monthly in an edition of 10.000. A booklet costs 2 euro, of it remains 1 euro to the salesman.

The megaphone is a project of the Caritas Graz. For the first time the newspaper appeared in October 1995. Thus it was the first road newspaper in Austria. Beside the editorial part, which treats sociopolitical topics, is also culture information and a meeting calendar. In each expenditure also a prescription for courts is contained, which cost maximally 2.40 euro (as much if it remains for a state of emergency assistance subscriber per day for meals as the average Austrian 16.14 per cent of its income for meals spends). Further with the megaphones UNIVERSITY a free entrance to current scientific topics is ordered. This offer addresses itself particularly to humans, who do not have an entrance to universities due to from training, origin or social position.

In July 2003 the megaphone organized the 1. Football tournament The Homeless World Cup in Graz. Teams from the whole world at the Grazer Hauptplaatz began against each other. All team members were homeless people. Austria won the tournament before England and the Netherlands. Into that further consequence was established the football tournament to an annual meeting, whereby the venue is annually again specified. The Homeless Worl Cup 2006 takes place in Cape Town - South Africa.
