The Gebr. meat man GmbH and CO. Kg is a toy manufacturer with seat in the Frankish Nuremberg. It produced exclusive for the model railway market and ranks in Germany after among the largest independent companies within this range. The domestic market is not only served, as per data of the company meat man goes approx. to 20% of production into the export.

History

The enterprise was created 1887 by Jean Fleischmann. The company manufactured at the beginning of above all sheet metal toy, as for example ships, airplanes, magnetic rubber animals and steam engines. In the year 1949 meat man presented a model course in the two-leader direct current system in the size 0. It concerned a novelty, because up to this time the model railways with different Dreileiter-Systemen were operated. Production was however already stopped 1959 again. Reason for this was the success since 1952 of the track width H0 present on the market. After the model course manufacturer presented Arnold 1960 in Germany as first mass production manufacturers the track width N, meat man pulled tight in the year 1969 with its Piccolo assortment in the same yardstick.

Starting from end of the sixties of the last century meat man also the author course assortment "car Rallye" was, later "Rallye Monte Carlo" mentioned in the product offer of the companies. According to the high claim of quality of the house one offered a system, which was clearly superior to the market leader "Carrera universal". The rail system corresponded to the international two-leader standard and was broader than from Carrera. The Schienenverbindungen were better and more durable. The Schleifersystem offered clearly better contact and the model quality exceeded all competition. Against the cheap competition of Carrera meat man could not succeed however. The system was taken 1989 by the market.

Present product assortment

The company Fleischmann offers at present full assortments of model railways in the following track widths:

Magic Train, 0e, yardstick 1:45, a durable play course, which drives on HO-tracks
H0, yardstick 1:87, with priority two-leader direct current system and
Piccolo, N, yardstick 1:160.

Meat man offers a complete assortment of vehicles, rails and other accessories for all track widths such as turntables or locomotive sheds.

Besides meat man in the size HO has also a number of models for the neutral conductor alternating current system in the assortment, which are compatible with the models and track systems of

In the track width TT a turntable was so far the only activity of this company.

Meat man acquired himself v.a. by the exzellente quality and the very high Detailierungsgrad of his models a outstanding call. Among experts apply steam engines of meat man as with the best steam locomotive models manufactured in mass production at all.

Digitally

In the year 1986 meat man presented the digital multi-course price increase Fleischmann FMZ. Because this system is compatible only with itself, it could not become generally accepted at the market. Meat man reacted to the twin centers to this development and both the twin decoders and to the program took up. Here also products of other manufacturers, that function in the DCC format (= digitally COMMAND control), on a plant can be at the same time steered. Meanwhile meat man offers also pure DCC products.
