The Mazda RX-8 is a passenger car of the Japanese manufacturer Mazda. It is at present the only series vehicle with wankel engine on the market. It replaces the autumn 2002 adjusted Mazda RX-7 FD.

The RX-8 does not possess a B-column, but in the back fastened (Mazda advertisement: Freestyle concept). These can be opened only if the front doors are likewise opened. As a result of appropriate interpretation no Sicheheitsnachteile arises. This and the rotary piston motor differentiate the RX-8 thereby from usual sports cars. The form of the circle piston becomes visible in the Design of the hood and many equipment details.

The vehicle has a front central engine (engine behind the front axle) and rear propulsion. The weight distribution amounts to nearly 50:50 % in the empty condition. The vehicle is in series with an electronic stability program (ESP-2 von Bosch), DSC (dynamic Stability control) mentioned and equipped.

The front axle is implemented, the rear axle of a so-called multi-link arrangement is added as double triangle steering wheel suspension. The exhaust system is manufactured made of high-grade steel.

The RX-8 is one of the few models of the mark Mazda, which is not manufactured on Ford basis. The platform of the RX-8 is used further with the Mazda MX-5 and with Jaguar.

At the beginning of of 2006 is presented a special model revolution Reloaded (freely designated after the matrix films). It has in chromed execution and equivalent Design elements in the headlights. Inside a leather Alcantara combination, steering wheel applications in the Piano Look and the parking brake grasp into leathers are built.
