Market Maker, market male nurse or also Marktmacher one calls a broker, whose major task exists in the publication of obligatory on ("bid") and selling rates ("ask") of quoted articles.
The Market Maker may at any time change the courses placed by it ("quotes") with sequential quotation. Upon the requests of a certified market participant the Market Maker is obligated to buy and/or sell to these courses.
The remuneration of its service exists in the span ("spread") between on and selling rate of transacted conversions.

To the NASDAQ implement Market Maker companies the Orders of their customers or their own Orders and constitute a majority of the trade to the NASDAQ. There are at present altogether 550 Market Maker companies, from which 10 is however only approximate really of importance. All market Maker in the USA member of the NASD (national Association OF Securities Dealers) must be and fulfill certain conditions, as e.g. show a certain minimum capital.
