Print marks

In the year 1950 17 stamps were provided by Netherlands India and Indonesia with the print "Republic of Maluku Selatan". Some Philatelisten represents the view that it could act over locally used stamps. The majority proceeds however from stamp falsifications.

Issues of stamps of the government-in-exile in the Netherlands

There is well-known several in to three-colored issues of stamps without date of issue of Maluku Selatan. Possibly these by the government-in-exile in the Netherlands were sold. Peter Doerling writes 1991 in addition: Thus emerged 1954 with the Viennese state printering a few gentlemen, among them a German stamp dealer, who wanted to have printed marks for the new REPUBLIC OF MALUKU SELATAN. This republic had been proclaimed actually on the Indonesian Molukken - islands Ambon and Ceram, whose Christian inhabitants did not want to belong to no more to the Islamic Republic of Indonesia. The republic existed only briefly, warships fired at Amboina, many inhabitants fled into the Netherlands. For the speculators that was naturally only one pretext, because they let approx. 150 expenditures for mark print, among them beautiful animal and motives for plant and even a UN - series, all pure fantasy products without philatelic value.

Evaluation of these issues of stamps

Renowned stamp catalogs and stamp dealer do not lead stamps of the Republic of Maluku Selatan. The MICHEL editorship are no valid stamps from this region admits (information of Erich H. Slaby on 2 February 2005).

A very well-known New Yorker mark dealer did not contest; it gave the order to state printering in Vienna by an intermediary for the production of the mark series, which promptly one implemented, without one convinced oneself in Vienna of the existence Maluku Selatans. These marks, those in unawareness of the state of affairs by many collecting tanks were bought, to have at best a small curiosity value.

The Scott standard pos days Stamp Catalogue writes under South Moluccas: It appears that the stamps OF the so-called republic OF South Moluccas were privately issued and had NO pos valley use. Accordingly, they acres emergency recognized as pos-meets stamps.
