George R. Kelly, also admits Machine Gun" Kelly Barnes as George "(* 18 July 1895; "† 18 July 1954) was a notorious US-American gangster of the Prohibitionsjahre. Kelly worked among other things as liquor smuggler, armed robber and a kidnapper.

Life

Kelly came of to a wealthy family from Memphis, threshing floor lake. It left the university of Mississippi and worked in different occupations, in order to be able to satisfy the anspruchsvolen desires of its friend gene EH Ramsey. From the marriage Kellys with Ramsey followed two children. After Kelly themselves both with its wife and its parents had, it worked, in order to find a getting along (it was the time of the Prohibition, the alcohol prohibition in the USA), when Bootlegger, i.e. when someone smuggles in its boots the alcohol. To different conflicts with the police Kelly, with a new friend in the dragging rope decided to go into the west of the USA.

The kidnapping Charles F. Urschels

1928 it was arrested in Tulsa, Oklahoma and to three years detention in the Leavenworth prison (Kansas) condemned, as it tried alcohol into the area of an Indian reservation to smuggle. Due to good guidance it became to dismiss however prematurely. With several accomplices Kelly kidnapped after its release the businessman Charles F. to Urschel from Oklahoma town center and its friend Wlater R. Jarrett. Owing to Urschels, it succeeded to outstanding memory and its unusual acuteness of the senses to it to note despite connected eyes, all only conceivable information about the place its shank (among other things the premises, the number of stairway steps in the hiding place, background noises) and so the police, at its release against ransom to steer on the correct trace. Finally one got to know that Kelly had its place of residence in a dwelling in Memphis.

Arrest by the FBI

For the first time on 26 September 1933 Kelly of members FBI and the Memphiser police with a raid arrested, whereby the PR-department of the FBI later falsely subordinates him, it applied the designation during its arrest "G-Men "(Government Men) to FBI men, which since that time as pointed name for agents of the federal authority is common. On 2 October 1933 George and Kathryn Kelly were condemned to life imprisonment. Kelly died at its 59. Birthday in the prison of Leavenworth at a cardiac infarct.
