The lily plants (Liliaceae) are a family of the plants (Monocotyledoneae). It is common, particularly in the northern zone in Eastern Asia and North America. To the family 16 kinds with for instance 3500Arten belong.

Description

Lily plants are nearly krautige plants always of several years. The outlasting organ is always a bulb. The sheets are simply, parallelnervig and glattrandig. The blooms either singleconstantly appear or in bloom conditions. The zwittrigen blooms are triple (as with nearly all plants). The six arranged bloom cladding sheets (Tepalen) usually freely and only rarely grew together. There is for each bloom of six and three available. The fruits are either caps or berries.

Systematics

In former times up to 3.500 kinds ranked among the lily plants among other things from the families of the agave plants (Agavaceae), the bulb plants (Alliaceae), the asparagus plants (Asparagaceae), the (Asphodelaceae), the time lot plants (Colchicaceae), the hyacinth plants (Hyacinthaceae) and the mouse thorn plants (Ruscaceae).

The Calochortaceae, Erythroniaceae, Fritillariaceae, Liriaceae, Medeolaceae, Scoliopaceae, Tricyrtidaceae and Tulipaceae were in former times independent families, the kinds of the families the lily plants are assigned now.

The Liliaceae becomes current in two Unterfamilien, which Lilioideae and the Calochortoideae with altogether 16 kinds and 635 kinds partition.

• Lilioideae: With 11 kind with approximately 535 kinds:
  • Giant lilies (Cardiocrinum) with 3 kinds
  • Clintonia with 3 kinds
  • Tooth lilies (Erythronium) approx. 23 kinds, among other things with the Hunds Zahnlilie
  • Fritillaria approx. 130 kinds, among other things with the chessboard flower
  • Yellow stars (Gagea) approx. 90 kinds
  • Korolkowia with a kind
  • Lilies (Lilium) approx. 110 kinds
  • Fold lilies (Lloydia) approx. 12 kinds, among other things with the late fold lily
  • Medeola with a kind
  • Nomocharis approx. 7 kinds
  • Notholirion approx. 4 kinds
  • Tulips (Tulipa) approx. 150 kinds

• Calochortoideae: With five kinds and about 100 kinds
  • Calochortus approx. 65 kinds
  • Prosartes
  • Scoliopus
  • Streptopus
  • Tricyrtis
