Ludwig Elsbett (* 8 November 1913 in salt, Lower Franconia, "† 28. March 2003) is the inventor of the Elsbett engine.

Elsbett was born as one of nine children of the farmer Viktor Elsbett and its Mrs. Maria. It buildup in the agriculture and learned first agricultural machinery fitters. Later it studied Franconia living and Neustrelitz machine and aircraft construction at the schools of engineering in bath.

1937 it became the department manager with the Junkers aircraft plants in Dessau and developed thereby combustion engines. 1940 he married his Mrs. Lieselotte and had with their 5 children. It was a living technician legend, it had relevant portion of the advancement of the diesel engines, in particular the direct injecting procedure, which is used also in the Elsbett engine.

After the war Elsbett in salt lattices with the production of a secondary act diesel engine made itself independent.
