Luca Cordero di Montezemolo (* 31 August 1947 in Bologna) is an Italian Industrieller.

He is chairman of the board and managing director of Ferrari (since 1991) and Maserati (since 1997), chairmen of the board of FIATS (since 2004), directors/conductors of the international fair in Bologna, president of the Luiss (Libera Internazionale degli Studi Sociali) in Rome, member of the board of directors of the newspaper La Stampa in Turin, of PPR (Pinault/Printemps Redoute), death' s, Merloni Elettrodomestici, Campari and the soccer association FC Bologna.

Since 2003 it is about comparable to president of the Confindustria, the Federal association of the German industry.

In the past Montezemolo was also a president of the Fieg (Federazione Italiana Editori Giornali, the Italian combination of the newspaper publishers), the federationfederation federation of the province Modena, member of the board of directors of the bank Unicredit Banca D' Impresa and the television station TF1 as well as managing director of RCS video, the beverage manufacturer Cinzano international and the ITEDI, getting thing of the FIATS Group, which e.g. controls the newspaper La Stampa.

Luca di Montezemolo is in Italy an important person of the public life and due to its various activities and positions a gladly seen interview partner to most diverse topics. It achieves special mediale attention with its criticism at the political responsible persons of Italy in its position as a president of the Confindustria.

Biography

Luca di Montezemolo studies La Sapienza in Rome jurisprudence (conclusion of the study 1971) at the university and to the Columbia University in New York international law, where he receives 1973 the master title.

For short time it drives motorraces for the Lancia Rallye team, but after its university conclusion it begins to work for FIATS. FIAT continues to give it at Ferrari, where he becomes in the year 1973 an assistant of Enzo Ferrari and 1974 directors/conductors of the racing department (Scuderia Ferrari). Only one year later is promoted to director/conductor of all racing departments by FIATS. 1977 leave Montezemolo Ferrari and become responsible person for outside relations with FIATS and afterwards managing directors of the ITEDI (see above).

1982 come it to its commitment with Cinzano international, which is controlled exactly the same as FIATS and Ferrari by the family Agnelli. In the same year it leads the participation of the sailing boat Azzurra Challenge with the America's Cup. 1985 he becomes manager in the planning committee for the soccer world championship 1990 in Italy.

1991 Giovanni Agnelli Montezemolo makes itself chairman of the board recovered from Ferrari, which came to Enzo Ferrari death into economic difficulties, however under Montezemolos guidance rapidly. 1997 he becomes also chairman of the board of Maserati. In the year 2000 the Scuderia Ferrari wins its first world champion title in the formula 1 since 1979.

In the year 2001 it rejects an offer of the Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to occur the government.

Montezemolo is also founder unit trust fund charm, with which he takes over 2003 the company Poltrona woman and 2004 Ballantyne.

2004 he is selected of the Financial Time among the 50 best managers of the world.

Montezemolo is a doctor honoris causa in mechanical engineering of the University of Modena and in management of the Fondazione CUOA, renowned Businesses a School in Vicenza.
