Dr. Lothar Rendulic (* 25 October 1887 in Viennese new city; "† 18 January 1971 in Eferding) was a Austrian general (colonel general).

Career/development

Lothar Rendlic hit a military career after his study of the jurisprudence. Like that it was from 1934 to 1936 Austrian in Paris. It was retired however because of its already since 1932 existing membership with the NSDAP to dismiss and. After the occupation of Austria by the armed forces it became to 13. March re-activates. As colonel general of the German armed forces it became as a commander of the 2. Tank army from 1943 to 1944 assigned in Yugoslavia. There under its guidance and on its instruction crimes at the civilian population were committed. Since 28 June 1944 he was commander of the 20. Mountain army in Finland. During the retreat of the German troops from Finland, in the so-called Lapplandkrieg, Rendulic used the tactics of the burned earth. Afterwards it was until 1945 only commander of the army group cure country and then the army group south. To the end of war he was commander of the army group ostmark. It came 1945 into US-American war shank. In the year 1948 he was condemned during the process of generals in South-east Europe for his war crimes in Yugoslavia to 20 years detention. It became on 31 January 1951 to however already dismiss, after it had been begnadigt.
