Lothar Malskat (* 3. May 1913 in king mountain; "† 10 February 1988 in Wulfsdorf with Luebeck) was a painter and an art counterfeiter.

Life

It falsified bar-laughs, Chagall, Kokoschka, Picasso, Liebermann, Rembrandt, Rousseau, Utrillo and other one.

It became famous in connection with the restoration of the Marienkirche Luebeck in the year 1948. The allegedly gothical Deckenfresken, which wanted to have discovered Malskat in the way of the re-establishment, was celebrated first of considerable specialists as maximum performances of the medieval painting, until he was noticeable as a counterfeiter.
